Trauma Healing

What Trauma-Informed Care Actually Means in Session

Trauma-informed care isn’t a single technique — it’s a way of holding every part of the therapeutic relationship with attention to safety, choice, and pacing.

In practice, this means checking in before diving into difficult material, offering options rather than directives, and moving at a pace the nervous system can actually tolerate. Healing that outpaces safety often isn’t healing at all — it’s re-injury.

If you’ve had a hard time in previous therapy, it may be less about therapy itself and more about pacing that didn’t fit your needs. It’s worth trying again with someone who prioritizes safety first.
